Marathi

Marathi is language of European times. It is one of the ancient languages. It is written in Devnagari Script. It is one of the twenty two official Indian languages and the official language of Maharashtra. According to the 2011 Census, the number of Marathi speakers in India is about 9 Crore. It is about 2200 years of age. Maharashtra is known as state of Marathi Speakers.
Till now, outstanding literature has been created and is getting created continuously in Marathi.
1st May is celebrated as Marathi’s official language of Maharashtra.
“Marathi Language glory day“ is celebrated on Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar ‘KUSUMAGRAJ’s’ birth Anniversary on 27th February.
The Satvahana empire from Paithan used the Marathi language as their administrative language. In the time of Yadavs, Marathi language and culture got prosperity. In 1278 AD, Mahambhat wrote ‘Leelacharitra’ in marathi; in 1290 AD the saints and poets gave oral importance in Marathi literature. Saint Eknath contributed by writing texts such as bharude, Eknathi Bhagwat and Bhavarth Ramayan.etc.
Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj roweled the seal of Marathi empire and the peshve helped him to expand it.
After this Marathi language got the royal asylum. In 1974 AD, independent country India gave an authorized official language status to Marathi language.
In 1960 Ad Maharashtra state an association of Marathi speakers got the status and Marathi got the crown of being an official language.
